A Wireless Way to Unleash the Power of HART Data (215.35 KB)
For most of the field devices in all but the newest plants, operators have a treasure trove of smart digital data that cannot be readily accessed and put to good use. The devices are connected to older, analog-only control systems. This data can be extremely valuable: for example, it can help managers predict when a problem might occur that would force a plant shutdown. This paper discusses the need for standards-compliant, wireless, sensor-based technology in the process manufacturing industries to unleash this trapped data and the benefits that will result.
